Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about buying, selling, bidding, and learning on ArtworkHub SA.

Buying Art
Do I need an account to buy?
No. You can browse and check out as a guest. Creating an account lets you track orders, save favourites, and bid in auctions.
How do I pay?
Artists accept EFT (direct bank transfer), credit/debit card, PayFast online payment, and cash on collection. Each artist sets their accepted methods. Payment details are provided after you place your order.
Is my purchase guaranteed?
Once an artist confirms your order, the artwork is marked reserved for you. If an artist cannot fulfil an order, you will receive a full refund.
Can I return an artwork?
Returns are handled directly with the artist. We recommend messaging the artist before purchase if you have concerns about size, colour accuracy, or condition. Most artists will work with you on reasonable return requests.
How do I know the artwork is authentic?
Every artwork is listed by the artist personally (or by their registered gallery). Certificates of authenticity can be requested from the artist directly.
What currency are prices in?
All prices are in South African Rand (ZAR).
Auctions
Do I need an account to bid?
Yes. You must be logged in to place a bid. Creating an account is free and takes under a minute.
What is a reserve price?
A reserve is the minimum price the artist will accept. If bidding does not reach the reserve, the artist is not obligated to sell. You will see "Reserve not met" or "Reserve met" — the actual amount is never shown.
What happens when I win an auction?
The artist contacts you directly via email to arrange payment and delivery. The auction will be marked Settled once payment is confirmed.
Can I retract a bid?
Bids are binding. Please bid only if you intend to purchase. Contact us immediately if you believe a bid was placed in error.
What is the bid increment?
Each auction has a minimum increment set by the artist. You will be shown the minimum next bid when placing your bid.
Art Classes
Do I need an account to book a class?
No. You can book as a guest using your name and email. An account lets you view all your bookings in one place.
How do I pay for a class?
The instructor will contact you with payment details after your booking is confirmed. Free classes are confirmed immediately.
What if I need to cancel?
Contact the instructor as soon as possible. Cancellation policies vary by artist — check the class listing or ask before booking.
Are materials included?
This varies per class. Listings clearly state whether materials are included. Look for the "Materials included" tag.
Can I book multiple seats for a group?
Yes. During booking you can specify the number of seats (up to 10 per booking, subject to availability).
