How artwork gets from the artist's studio to your door.
On ArtworkHub SA, shipping is handled directly between the artist and buyer. Artists set their own shipping rates and arrange their preferred courier. This keeps costs transparent and lets artists package their work with the care it deserves.
When you place an order, the artist will confirm the artwork is available, then arrange packaging and shipping. You'll receive tracking details once the artwork is dispatched.
You receive an order confirmation email with your reference number immediately.
The artist verifies availability and contacts you with payment details. Once payment is received, the artwork is marked confirmed.
The artist packages the work carefully and hands it to the courier. You'll receive a tracking number.
Courier delivers to your address. Inspect the artwork and report any damage within 48 hours.
Artists are responsible for packaging. We recommend artists use the following guidelines, and most of our established artists already follow best practices:
Photograph your packaging when your order arrives. If there is visible damage to the outer packaging, photograph it before opening and report it to both the courier and the artist.
Artists choose their own couriers. Common services used on the platform include:
Popular for door-to-door within South Africa. Good coverage in major centres.
Overnight and express options available. Good for time-sensitive deliveries.
Affordable for smaller, lighter works. Branch collection option available.
Reliable nationwide coverage including rural areas.
For international shipping. Artists will advise on customs requirements.
Some Cape Town, Joburg, and Durban-based artists offer local delivery or studio collection.
Shipping costs are set by each artist and shown on the artwork listing. Costs vary depending on:
If no shipping cost is listed, contact the artist before purchasing to confirm the amount. Artists will quote based on your delivery address.
For artworks valued over R2,000 we strongly recommend requesting insurance in transit. Many couriers offer this as an add-on. Discuss with the artist when they send you shipping details — they can include insurance in the quoted shipping cost.
ArtworkHub SA does not provide shipping insurance. Claims for lost or damaged goods must be made through the courier or your home insurance.
International shipping is at the artist's discretion. Not all artists ship internationally. If you are based outside South Africa:
If your artwork arrives damaged or does not arrive within the expected timeframe:
